K-Pop Stars Sue Web Show Producers—Threaten to Expose Company Over Unpaid Fees

Several former idols and entertainers, including Eunji (Nine Muses), Somyi (DIA), and actress Cho Shiyoon, are pursuing legal action against a web entertainment production company (referred to as “Company A”) over unpaid appearance fees.
According to an official statement from their agency, Modenberry Korea, their affiliated artists appeared multiple times on a particular web variety show but have not received the agreed-upon payment for months. Despite repeated attempts at negotiation, the company has provided no responsible response, prompting the agency to formally initiate legal proceedings.
The agency emphasized, “If the appearance fees are not paid within a few days, we will disclose the company’s name and pursue both criminal charges and civil claims. This is not merely a financial dispute but a principled stand for accountability and trust within the content industry.”

The show in question reportedly features a well-known comedian as its MC, which could amplify the public fallout from this legal move.
This lawsuit comes amid increasing scrutiny over working conditions and payment transparency in Korea’s web entertainment sector—a rapidly expanding industry with growing influence.
Fans and industry insiders are watching closely, as the case may set an important precedent for how production companies handle performer rights moving forward.
